Polypipe Civils has invested in its quality control testing to strengthen its existing processes. This new process ensures the business can closely control its use of raw materials and ensure the quality of recycled material used in the manufacturing process is fit for purpose.
Having worked closely with Triton Technology for over a year, Polypipe Civils has invested in two of its identiPol QA systems which measure graded recycled and mixed material in comparison to the test batch of prime polymer material.
Each identiPol QA unit benchmarks recycled material and allocates a Quality Index Score (QIS) to indicate how the material performs against the dataset of prime polymer. This simple scale allows Polypipe Civils to rapidly measure the polymeric properties of each batch of recycled material prior to its use in the manufacture of products such as Ridgidrain Plus and Polystorm Lite.
As one of the largest users of post-consumer recycled plastic in the UK, Polypipe Civils is demonstrating its continued investment in new technologies, recycled material and product improvement. Whilst it is necessary for some products to be manufactured from prime material to achieve the required performance levels, Polypipe Civils is committed to using recycled material wherever possible.
“This investment marks another initiative the business has implemented to improve its quality control,” comments Olly Monk, Quality Manager for Polypipe Civils. “By grading our recycled material we can be sure of the quality prior to manufacture and deliver improved products to our customers. This new process will enable us to become even more efficient and enhance the quality of our products.”
